T&Cs Open Call
The Open Call "Hello Stranger – Images About Neighbourhood" is organized by műSpace, Allerstraße 2, 12049 Berlin, part of Projekt Allerstraße 1&2 GmbH.
The selected photographers will each exhibit one image in a group exhibition, which opens on 24 October and runs until 19 December 2026.
By submitting an application, participants legally acknowledge acceptance of these terms and conditions.
1. Theme
The theme is: "Hello Stranger – Images About Neighbourhood"
2. Application
Participation in the Open Call is free of charge.
Eligible to participate are national and international photographers as well as artistic collectives. All participants must be of legal age.
Applications can only be submitted by the photographers themselves or by the involved collectives. A maximum of one submission per person or collective is permitted.
Either a single image or a series of up to 5 images may be submitted. Only one image from each selected participant will be exhibited.
Participation requires the complete upload of the following materials:

Image size: long side 1920 px / sRGB
Copyright must be embedded in the metadata (IPTC) of the files
A brief, concise artist's biography
A concept description related to the topic of the submitted images (max. 1,000 characters including spaces)
Timeline
The application period runs until 27 September 2026. The deadline for submission is 27 September, 23:59 CET. Applications received after this deadline will be excluded from the selection process. Applications may be submitted in German or English.
3. Selection Process / Jury
A panel of experts will decide on all applications submitted on time and in proper form, consisting of the following members:
- Milena Carstens (Photo Editor ZEITMagazin)
- Team of műSpace
The composition of the jury is determined by műSpace at its discretion. The jury's decision on the selection is based on free artistic judgment and is final; no substantive review of the selection decision takes place.
Notification of the selection will be sent by email by 8 October. The decision will be communicated to all applicants without individual justification.
4. Participation in the Group Exhibition
Your work will be printed free of charge on our photo plotter. Prints remain with participants after the exhibition. High-resolution files must be provided by 12 October at the latest via download link to nils@mue.berlin.
Participants commit to making their selected image available for the entire duration of the exhibition.
If present, participants are liable for damage to the event space, its furnishings or the exhibited work of other participants during setup and breakdown, vernissage and finissage.
From the time that műSpace takes over the works, műSpace is liable without limitation in cases of intent and gross negligence, for culpable injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act and in all other cases of mandatory legal liability. In cases of simple negligence in breach of essential contractual obligations, műSpace is liable for typical, foreseeable contractual damages. Essential contractual obligations are obligations whose performance enables the proper execution of the contract and on whose performance participants regularly rely. To the extent that the liability of műSpace is excluded or limited, this also applies for the benefit of its legal representatives, employees and vicarious agents.
Insurance coverage for exhibition pieces exists on the part of műSpace.
Insurance coverage for exhibited works or for personal or material damages does not exist on the part of műSpace, unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
műSpace is solely authorized to decide on the manner and mode of exhibition of the submitted photographs. Participants accept that their photos may be placed in new contexts, alone or in combination with other photographs and artists.
Participants waive any right to compensation for the exhibition of their work.
5. Copyright Declaration
Participants legally declare that they are the sole holder of the copyright to all submitted photographs and commit to submitting photographs by third parties only with the express permission of the respective copyright holders.
Participants declare that they possess the express consent of all persons depicted in the submitted photographs (or their legal representatives in the case of minors) for their submission and exhibition by műSpace.
In the event of any claims by third parties, participants shall indemnify műSpace from all claims arising therefrom, including reasonable legal costs, insofar as the claim is not attributable to fault by műSpace.
Participants undertake to identify any AI images or AI elements in the image in the concept description.
In the case of street photography or images taken on public grounds, participants assume full responsibility for the exhibition of the submitted photographs. Where applicable, participants furthermore declare that they have the right to submit images of places, buildings, landscapes, facilities or military installations, means of transport, goods, and persons.
6. Rights Grant
If the work is selected, participants grant műSpace the right to use the image royalty-free for marketing and communication purposes in connection with the exhibition and the Open Call—limited in time, space, and content to this purpose, both digitally and in print.
This includes use in the context of press releases, invitation cards, flyers and posters, on mű's websites, on social media, in the organization's newsletter, and in further press and public relations activities.
When using a participant's image, műSpace will credit the participant by name or artist name and, if possible, with social media handles. The copyright to be credited must be embedded in the metadata of the submitted files.
The copyright usage rights granted under this section are irrevocable. The data protection consent to process personal data (e.g., name) remains unaffected and can be revoked in accordance with Section 7.
7. Data Protection
The materials submitted as part of the application are used exclusively for processing by the műSpace team and for conducting the selection process by the jury and are not published.
After selection, the full names or artist names of participants will be published in the context of the exhibition – the same applies to information materials (printed, digital, online).
All personal data provided in the context of the registration and application process is stored for the purpose of image presentation and administration, curation, organization, and statistics, and is processed in accordance with legal requirements, in particular the GDPR.
The data protection declaration of műSpace applies additionally.
Any consent given to the use of data can be revoked at any time by email to space@mue.berlin with effect for the future. The lawfulness of data processing carried out prior to revocation remains unaffected.
8. Miscellaneous
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies exclusively.
Should any individual provision be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining terms and conditions shall remain unaffected.
