Monotype

In this course, you'll experiment with different colours, layering, marks and textures. You'll learn how these transfer onto paper when printing and how you can use them to create images. In monotype printing, you apply ink directly onto an acrylic or plexiglass plate. You work painterly on the plate, place paper on top and press it by hand or with a printing press. Since each plate is printed only once, every print is unique. By the end of the course, you'll take your own prints home with you.

Who is this course for?

This course is open to beginners and anyone who wants to explore experimental and painterly printing techniques.

What to bring:

• Paper (can also be purchased on site)

For printing, it’s best if the paper is 100% cotton, acid-free, and fine-textured, with a weight of 150–300 gsm depending on the technique.Lighter paper is generally better suited for hand-printing techniques, while heavier paper works better for machine printing.
